I’ll admit that Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. However, Halloween has become somewhat of a contender in recent years. Since meeting Rich, I’ve developed an affinity for the playful fantasies that come with Halloween. Since our first Halloween together, we’ve enjoyed dressing up as well-known duos, and this year was no different. About a month ago, I fell down the Youtube rabbit hole and came across this makeup tutorial for Sally. Immediately I knew that this year’s couple’s costume was a lock.
I loved the idea, but many of the face paints I practiced with were harsh on my skin and came out looking patchy. In an effort to appeal to my fellow sensitive-skinned-Sallys, I came up with a recipe that’s easy on skin and gives even coverage.
Scoop out about a tsp of Paradise Light Blue, and mix it with half a tsp of Snazaroo Bright Green. Mush it together in your hands until the colors are blended and there aren’t any chunks. Then add a pea sized amount of Mehron’s Clown White cream makeup (optional) for a creamier application and lighter color.
Dip your makeup brush in water and dab it on a paper towel so it’s damp rather than soaked. Apply a thin layer of the mixed face paint around your face, neck, and body.
Using a damp makeup sponge, dab on a second layer of makeup, filling in spots where it may be sparse. I experimented with several methods and found the sponge and brush combo to give me full coverage that didn’t appear caked on.
To finish off, I painted white on my eyelids and over my brows; added some blue shading; outlined my Sally eyes with eyeliner; glued on lashes; swiped on a berry lip; and drew on stitches. That’s it!
